iTunes 11.1.2 issue: itunes not compatible with quicktime when trying to download podcasts?

Trying to download podcasts after updating iTunes to 11.1.2 . The following message appears and it seems that I am unable to play any old podcasts that stream video at the same time. Neither is downloading new video podcasts possible.

Any suggestions on how to solve this will be deeply appreciated! #7daysuntilexam

"This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes."

Try relaunching iTunes in 32-bit mode first, as per the instructions in the following document:

iTunes for Mac: Older media files may require iTunes to reopen in 32-bit mode
