A small amount of zoom is possible by tapping twice on the video image.
Tapping zooms it away. I need it to zoom so I can see my grand daughter dancing in her competition team. I really only watch her ;-). I need it to zoom in rather than out.
The default video player does not zoom in.
Look in the app store for a video player that offers that feature.
I had no problem zooming in on my iPad mini when it was IOS6. Now I "upgraded" to IOS7 and it no longer does it!
I wish before Apple takes a feature away they would ask us!!!
No you could not.
You can zoom in during recording, you could never zoom in during during playback
I am talking about after I made the video and I was watching it in Photo on my iPad. While watching I could use my two fingers to make the video pan onto one person ( my granddaughter dancing with her competition team). I have done it hundreds of time in IOS6 but no longer have that option in IOS7!!!!!
It is very upsetting as it is coming up on competition season soon.
I don't remember that having been possible in iOS 6 for videos, except for photos.
What you can do is use the general zoom feature of the iPad:
Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom = On
Read the instructions for using Zoom on that Zoom screen in the Settings.
That zooms some but before I could zoom right up on just my grand daughter, close enough to see the expression on her face. I watched her only, I zoomed close enough that I didn't even notice the rest of her team.
You missed a really good feature that Apple took away. I'm hoping to find it in an upgrade at some point.
Unfortunately I cannot see the video images myself, but I still find it hard to believe that you could see the person's facial expression, unless you actually shot that video really close up.
I wonder whether you weren't looking at a photograph, which you then zoomed in to.
Anyway, no one from Apple is reading your post here.
If you want to talk to Apple directly, use their feedback procedure:
I think I know where I was when I videod my grand daughters dance team! I was in the stands with the rest of the fans!
If it was a photograph that I was zooming on, I wonder why she was ACTIVLY dancing, you know MOVING!!
Besides zooming in Photo has not changed for zooming in on photos only on videos! Believe me I know the difference between still photos and video.
Ok I am now ending this discussion thread since no one can help me with this. It is what it is and it will be up to Apple to change this back to what it was in IOS 6.
Thank-you for your attempts to help.
You are absolutely right and this feature did exist in previous iOS6 and I have used it in ipad 2 and ipad mini. I have zoomed in during the playback of a video taken using iPad. Can not do this anymore with iOS7. I do hope Apple bring this feature back through an upgrade.
Thank you so much for understanding what I was talking about! It seems no one else had ever had this experience
I sent a message to Apple about it and I am also hoping they will fixit. It was such a wonderful feature.
Thanks again for your reply
My iPod touch 4 is still running iOS 6 and it cannot be upgraded any longer.
I have just downloaded three movies to my iPod touch, one of which is my own movie (.mov).
I tried my best to zoom in, as described by you, but it cannot be done.
When I double-tap the image, it zooms in one small single step, but nowhere anything near to the zoom level you describe!
Do you know what video file you used, i.e. the extension of the video file or the video format?
...
First of all I was using my iPad mini not an iPod.
The iPad mini has a camera and that is the camera I was using.
