How to recover deleted tags?
I deleted two tags (orange and purple) from Finder tag list in Mac OS X Mavericks. And I don't know, how to recover them. Any idea, what should I do?
Thanks in advance.

You can always "Get Info" of a file, and in the tags textbox, type a new tag name.
If it does not exist, it will prompt you to create a new one.
Hey Kirdan!
I have an article here that can tell you how to get those tags to show again:
OS X: Tags help you organize your files
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5839
You can set up tag names, colors, and more from Tags preferences.
- From the Finder, select Finder > Preferences… to open the Finder Preferences window.
- In the Finder Preferences window, click the Tags button.
Tag dot
Each dot corresponds to a tag. These are the same dots that appear next to an item name with that tag in the Finder.
- Click and drag a dot to arrange the order of tags.
- Click and drag a dot to the "Favorite Tags" (item 4) to make it a Favorite Tag.
- Click the dot to assign it a color, or no color.
- Control-click or right-click a dot to rename or delete its tag.
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!

Hi branden85... I've been searching all over trying to find out if there's any way to get your tag back after performing a deletion. The dialog you get when you tell it to delete the tag is quite foreboding. It very clearly states that you can't undo this action. So is there some way to get your tag back after you delete it?
OK, I found a solution. All you have to do is click the thing in your Finder toolbar called "Edit Tags" (looks like a switch on its side). From there, if you type a name that you don't already have it then creates a new tag with the new name. Pretty easy, I just wish that I didn't have to find this stuff through experimentation.
As an alternative, highlight file, right-click and select: Tags...
Yep, that works too 🙂
Many thanks Braden. Had me concerned as I use tags frequently
Thanks man!
