Garageband 10 -- Click the Smart Controls button up in the Transport Bar and once the Smart Control opens up down in the Editor window click on the Inspector Button. The little "i" Button. There you will find your Instrument and Audio FX slots similar to Logic Pro 9 and Logic Pro X.
PS: You may need to go into Garageband's Preferences and turn on Audio Units.
Same problem. 64bit Audio unit plugins are not showing up in GB 10.0.
Audio units are turned on in preferences but only apple's audiounits populate the list in inspector - no third party units. Is there a plist somewhere to trash and rebuild?
Problem: the default window size for the smart controls hides the dialog for adding AU instruments and effects on the instrument channel (on my 1440x900 air)
Solution:
I have this problem too. I have installed some third party audio units, like Piano One (http://www.supremepiano.com/product/piano1.html), but the list I got from the inspector contains only audiounits from Apple. In other app I can see and use the audio units normally, but somehow I can never do it in GB. I'm new to GB.
I finally get it work. Thanks a lot.
I've posted a video of how to do this:
lo deje con audio units seleccionado y el de eco y reverberacion local no seleccionado (igual q en la imagen q muestras) pero donde seleccionas los efectos solo me deja seleccionar los audio units, no me figura la seleccion que si aparece en el tuyo para instrument :c
Debe aparecer en los instrumentos, pero finalmente mi problema era un tema de versiones, actualicé mi EZD y funcionó perfecto.
Espero que eso te ayude.
