Apple TV forgets wifi connection

Hi all,

Recently I find that Apple TV would disconnect from my wifi (Airport Time Capsule) every couple of days. This started happening maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago.

To reconnect, I have to re-type the SSID (but not the password) then it will establish the connection again. So, Apple TV does keep the settings, but I can't figure out why it disconnects from Airport. I have the SSID broadcast turned off, but I never had this problem until 3 or 4weeks ago and I have not changed any setting on the Apple TV or Airport.

The problem persists even if I restart or power-cycle Apple TV.

Any idea on how to resolve or troubleshoot this would be much appreciated!

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.

You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.

Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.

There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.
