iPad 2- latest iOS- can't connect to wifi- can't reimage

My iPad 2 suddenly doesn't want to connect to any wifi (and I did all the various resets from the iPad). I did a full backup in iTunes and when I go to Restore iPad- I am told to turn off Find My iPad from my iPad2. I go to try to turn it off- and it can't as it can't connect online. So I am stuck with no solution (I guess I will need to restore from scratch from the iPad itself- hopefully). Seems to be an iOS7 issue (latest update).
