Q: Anyone getting graphics corruption in OSX Mavericks?

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Yes - I did think about this. However, its a problem generating a huge following of comment. If Apple don't know about it I'll eat my hat!

I, for one, did send them feedback on this issue - btw you'd imagine that at least a few of the Cupertino OS X Mavericks crew still have/use 2010 MBPs - even for their own use and would notice the problem with the Intel graphics rendering.

btw all of this goes back to Intel forbidding the use of nVidia chipsets on their Core i generation  CPUs - the 2010 MBPs were the first victims of the licensing blockade instigated by Intel that forced Apple into using their crappy graphics chips.

Same problem here, 2010 17" MacBook Pro (MacBookPro6,1).  Artifacts appear when plugged into the mains and using the Nvidia GeForce GT 330M.  Cooling fans rev up as well.

The artifacts show up regardless of what is being done after a certain amount of time, but never on a cold boot.  In case it is due to poor thermal management of the GT 330M in Mavericks, I'm only running on battery power until Apple fixes it.

Feedback sent to Apple - I can't believe 10.9.1 didn't fix this. 

Update, running on battery power does not fix it.  Now testing with automatic graphics switching disabled.

I am also having this issue, and I have been in contact with Apple about it.

My experience:

Shortly after installing Mavericks, I started seeing the pixelated garble like others have seen.

I have a:

Mid-2010 15" MBP

2.8 GHz Intel Core i7

NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M (512MB VRAM)

I have already had the logic board replaced for the loss of video issue mentioned here:

It was replaced before OS 10.9 ever came out and it did fix the loss of video issue.

The issue seems occur under these conditions:

1) battery power

2) graphics switching is on

I can make it go away usually by doing something to cause a screen redraw (move windows, switch windows, sleep/wake, etc), sometimes though it can be quite persistent.  Usually happens using Safari, and I've seen it on my Dashboard page.

Troubleshooting:

I have created a clean partition and installed a new OS, I didn't migrate anything.  I used the machine on battery power and graphics switching for the whole day trying to get the issue to return.  It did not.  I made a distinct effort not to install ANYTHING - so couldn't watch certain videos and stuff.  Mainly I surfed CNN, Etrade, YouTube and WeatherUnderground.  I kept experimenting with it the next day, decided maybe it was some kind of software issue solved by a clean install, and went ahead and installed Adobe Flash Player 11 so I could watch some of those videos I couldn't watch without it.  Not too long after it was installed, I had the issue again.  It was happening fairly often now after nearly two days of nothing. 

So I cleaned installed again, and again, I have not yet experienced the issue, and not installed anything.  I'm only on day one though, this time I'm going to wait longer.

Anyway, I already convinced Apple I needed a repair for it, but I haven't sent it off yet until I know it happened without Adobe Flash 11.

Is anyone else suspicious of Adobe Flash 11 relating to this issue with Mavericks??

+1 : I am getting this too. I've replaced my hard drive and logic board so far. I've also done a fresh install of Mavericks. Well, the local Apple store has been doing all the work.

How have people been dealing with this? Have you manually sped up your fans to keep it cooler?

I've posted about half-a-dozen times in this thread - see above for my history with this issue.

After about 3 days of clear sailing, this same problem has returned.  Disabling AirDisplay made no difference in the end.

Something I just noticed - for what it's worth - this issue reappeared when I launched Microsoft Excel 2011 v14.3.9 131030, and went away again when I quit Excel.  This pattern repeats each time I launch/quit Excel.

So far, disabling Automatic Graphics Switching has resolved the problem. 

This is definitely NOT a hardware issue.  I booted off a Mountain Lion parttion and my MacBook worked perfectly.  Boot into Mavericks with AGS enabled and the problem returns.  Boot back into ML and the problem is resolved. 

That's disgusting that the Apple Store droids are replacing logic boards.  If Apple aren't going to bother fixing this, they should at least send out a memo telling the droids to stop wasting money on worthless hardware replacements.

Yes, turning off Automatic Graphics is a "solution", but it does drain the battery noticeably.  Not that big a deal for me since I'm usually near a power outlet.  But I expect constantly running hot will shorten laptop life too.  Apple is too proud to suggest this as a solutIon, and too cheap to really fix the problem.  Of course, cheapness is all relative, and if enough people complained maybe they would fix it.  So please send feedback to Apple, this list is not monitored by Apple.

I don't know if I would call Apple cheap in this regard. The reality is that they have replaced many people's mainboards for free, when warranty has already run out (mine was one of them).

I have been working with a senior analyst at Apple to try and sort this issue out. He said that in Asia Pacific I was the first person with this issue that had been reported. Complaining here doesn't report the issue, and I don't even think sending a complaint through to the bug reporter will do much either, as it needs to go through the proper stages of diagnosis.

Anyway, some information from my computer has been sent off to some engineers at Apple to try and diagnose further. They should be back to me in the next day or two.

But for those who have this issue - either go to the nearest Genius Bar, or phone Apple about it. Those are the 2 support channels you have available.

I agree turning off graphics switching is not a solution that just simply avoids the problem.

As per my previous post I was on day one of testing with a New partition and the clean install of 10.9.1. On day four I still had not experienced the garbled blocks of video.  I couldn't watch many YouTube videos without the Adobe flash player 11 so I installed it.  The garble came back within short order.  That's again running on battery power and graphics switching is enabled.

I disabled Adobe flash 11 by removing the plug-ins and the issue went away - I couldn't reproduce it again for several hours.  Reinstalled it and the garble returned.

I don't know if it's limited to Adobe flash 11 or maybe these certain videos act upon certain parts of the graphics card in a way that causes the problem,  not sure.  But that should be a clue to the answer for this.

Anyone else truly clean install and find a way to reproduce it before they added other software?

Same here, scrambled dock icons on a 10.9.1 mid 2011 Mac mini, sigh apple.. This, Remote Desktop 3.7 messed up, smb2 useless, gmail in mail... Mavericks is a giant clunker for me.

I've been having this issue as well.  As far as i can tell it started with 10.9.1

It only arrises when I'm running on the Integrated graphics card. As soon as I switch to NVIDIA my display returns to normal.
