Pages 5.0: how to uninstall?

This is for the Mac version.

Do I just drag the app to the trash, or is there something more I need to do?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Make sure you have all your old iWork '09 apps or the M.A.S. Pages '09 still in your Applications folder, then just trash Pages 5.0 and empty Trash.

You may have to stop the Mac App Store from automatically reinstalling Pages.

Just put a stake through its heart and put it and you out of your misery.

I have found a way to have the iWork '09 apps be the default but still have the new apps available based on a couple of posts I read in ASC.

After I installed the new iWork updates I created a folder on an external drive & named it "other applications." I then moved the new iWork apps to this folder. I have icons for two versions of Pages & Numbers (I rarely use Keynote) in my Dock. Even with two versions of Pages running, double-clicking an existing file opens in Pages 4.3.

Deleting Pages 5.0 does not stop annoying notifications.

Turning off automatic updates doesm, but is an unhelpful fix.

Keep Pages 5.0 on your mac (however distressing this may feel - personally I would like to print out the source code and ram it down the author's throat)

Go to a .pages file

Right click

Click on "Get Info"

In "Open with" click on Pages 4.3

This should then work on all Pages files

Delete Pages 5.0 from your dock

didn't work. With a file that has already been opened in Pages 5.0(not just created in 5.0), R click & saying open with... Pages 4.3,

gives you an error message that says "this file requires Pages 5.0 to open."

Now, I have some highlighted text (the last thing I wrote 2 days ago (using Pages 4.3), opened it today in 5.0,

but when I type under it now, anything I type is getting highlighted, & I can’t turn it off.

I would also like to ram Pages 5.0 down Apple's throat & up the other direction too.

Once a file is opened in 5.0 it is ... screwed. You can export to 4.3 and very little changes (some formats in tables lost their number of decimal places, but all else looked ok). Obviously anything lost from 4.3 to 5.0 does not magically reappear.

The advice below is from Apple (three advisors - took an hour to come up with this) and should work on files that have not been opened in 5.0.

5.0 is effectively system software and Apple confirmed that, other than by turning off automatic updates, you cannot stop the notifications. There is no option in System Preferences>Notifications to tun them off, as you might expect.

Curiously, the advisor at Apple used both Pages and Word and seemed to appreciate that Pages had been screwed up. The main reason for not using Word is that it crashes, and she told me it still does, whereas Pages 4.3 never crashed in my experience.

I think there should be a new tread of on what people would like to do to the designer of Pages 5.0, assuming they have reached the age of legal responsibility (which I doubt). Maybe tattoo the logo on their forehead? Maybe just oblige them to use it on an imac or pro - that should be torture enough.
