After installing Final Cut Express 4 from the disc on my MacMini, opening a file that I created in the same program caused the "file is too new" error to occur. This could only mean that an update was applied between the time I originally installed FCE and now...however, I'm not certain where to locate that update and I'm now on a machine running Mavericks.
Has anyone had this problem?

Use Software Update to find any available updates for FCE 4. Note that some may be called "ProApp Kit" updates and not specifically named for Final Cut Express.

I tried that already. The most recent update is recognized as old by Mavericks and won't install.
File is too new for this application...
