Oct 27, 2013 8:44 PM in response to Rifat Caglayanby sberman,Are you using the latest iPhoto (version 9.5) that was released about the same time as Mavericks? It appears as a new icon in your dock (different than previous OS X versions).

Oct 27, 2013 8:52 PM in response to sbermanby Rifat Caglayan,Yes: iPhoto '11 9.5 & OS X 10.9
That's the same WD extarnal TimeMachine back ups.
TM back ups are there as well as the iMovie Events BUT iPhoto Library is not accessible.

Oct 27, 2013 9:05 PM in response to Rifat Caglayanby sberman,Try this:
Quit iPhoto. Then hold the option key down as you press the iPhoto icon on your dock. It will ask you to point to your iPhoto library, which is just what you want.

Oct 27, 2013 9:13 PM in response to sbermanby Rifat Caglayan,Did it.
iPhoto opens nicely but without the photos:-(
However I can reach the them by: WD > iPhoto Library and then right click Show Package Content > Originals
All the photos are there and reachable manually.
I am guessing that there should be a software patch/update by either Apple or WD to bridge the photo portfolio at the external disk and the iPhoto.
Thanks your efforts.

Oct 27, 2013 9:21 PM in response to Rifat Caglayanby sberman,I think you are saying you used the option key, chose "Other Library" at the lower left when the box appeared asking which iPhoto library you want to use, and somehow that failed to get you to the WD library.

Oct 27, 2013 9:30 PM in response to Rifat Caglayanby sberman,★HelpfulWhen you open iPhoto, you can do iPhoto > Provide iPhoto Feedback from iPhoto's menu. It sounds like that might be a good way to proceed if you would like.

Apr 27, 2014 1:07 AM in response to sbermanby Weitbrecht,Oh great, that helped me also.
I had no access to iphoto any more because of missing rights.

Apr 27, 2014 4:44 AM in response to Rifat Caglayanby Barney-15E,Two things.
1) if you had installed the WD software that came with the drive, disconnect the drive and uninstall the software immediately. The old WD software will erase your drive under Mavericks.
2) when searching for the Library, is there a triangle button on the dialog? If so, click that.

Apr 28, 2014 2:40 AM in response to Weitbrechtby Weitbrecht,I followed your suggestion and now I can restore from the alternative library.
However, each time the computer is in the sleep mode, after this the pictures are gone again on iphoto.
How can I keep them there?

Apr 28, 2014 9:24 AM in response to Weitbrechtby Weitbrecht,....and when I use this library all new photos are gone.
When I repair the access rights, it still says I have no right to access.
I do have a back up.
