iPhoto update?

I am downloading the newest iPhoto update that came with Mavericks and I got this message when I click iPhoto thats says:

Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete.

Does this mean it is going to delete my whole current library? and what can I do about my photos that I have only on my computer?
