Would a 256 GB SSD on a 2012 Mac Mini significantly improve Final Cut Pro X Performance?

I'm considering a 2012 Mac Mini 2.6 Quad Core with 16 GB RAM and a 256 GB SSD with external Thunderbolt drives.

I understand that Mavericks allocates 1GB VRAM from system memory in a 2012 Mini with 8GB RAM.
