Facetime loads ok but as soon as i select a contact and try to connect it it just comes up face time failed this happens with all contacts help would be appreciated any thanks

I am having this exact same issue. I paid to upgrade to Snow Leopard just to have facetime and now since I updated to Maverick facetime no longer works. Is this a problem that Apple is going to fix or is it just going to keep being a generic response like above with no help.

For me, Facetime worked in a brand-new user account, but would fail in my real user account.
I got it working in my normal account by removing the Keychain files from ~/Library/Keychains. I don't recommend erasing all keychains, but the fix for me was in the keychains. Now I have to go back through and find the exact culprit so that I can restore my keychain data.
