Pages Version 5

Help!

I'm writing a novel (A5 size) and recently upgraded to Pages Version 5.

The novel file is currently 22MB with illustrations, 330 pages with about 83000 words.

I'm having difficulty correcting spelling or adding words to the dictionary while using 'Spelling and Grammar." Pages hangs with the usual symbol of busy being displayed. I have to Force Quit and start again.

I also deleted all illustrations and reduced the file to 3+ MB. However I still experience the same problems.

Is this a 'bug' in Pages Version 5 which will eventually be rectified by Apple?

I add that I didn't have any problems with the previous version of Pages.

Advice would be appreciated.

Can't help you concerning how to do it in Pages 5.0. I will advise that you finish your document in Pages 09 whcih you still should have in your Application folder.

Unfortunately I do not have Pages 09 since it was replaced with Version 5 when I upgraded to OS Mavericks.

I appreciate your help.

How is the weather in Sweden? Being of Swedish descent, my wife and I have spent many long vacations in your beautiful country.

Not true, the old Pages 09 isn't gone if you didn't delete it yourself. Look in the Application folder > iWork folder.

I live in the very southern part of Sweden and itis rainy and windy today.

Thanks for this.

I'll do as you suggest and work in pages 09 and let you know how I get on.

Interestingly, if I start a new document in Version 5 I don't have any problems.

My family originally came from Bromölla and Vaxjö.

Stay with the old PAges for your old documents. Pages 5.0 can't convert the older ones satifactorly as tons of features are gone. Pages 5.0 is more for simpler documents used over the iCloud to iPhones and iPads. If you don't use those devices like that don't use Pages 5.0
