Q: Add bookmark button now adds to reading list

Safari 6.1  Mountain Lion

The plus button next to the address bar now adds the page to the reading list instead of creating a new bookmark.

Can/How to change it back?

thanks

You can choose how you want the + button to work.  When you hold the option down and change the default, (as per Sealeihe's post above) that is now the default behavior for that button.  There is no extra step, as you seem to imply in your post.

Good solutions by all. Another quick method, without having to reprogram any buttons, is to drag the website logo (the little icon to the left of the html address) over to your bookmark icon. This will add the website to your bookmarks, providing an easy solution for the trackpad users as well. Cheers!

For the life of me I can't get this to work on a MBP.

If I hold the + button and then press option key, the 'add to and make default' does appear.  But as soon as I try to struggle with my fingers to slide the trackpad down to select bookmarks instead of the totally useless reading list, voomph.  Everything just vanishes and I'm back to square one.

Seriously I'm beginning to detest Apple development, I spend more time trying to sort their functions out than I do using them.  Yet another inconvenience.  Maybe "Apple - it just doesn't work" would be a better tag line!!!
