My Wacom Intuos 2 is not working with Mavericks ! anyone experiencing the same problem ?

I updated from 10.7 to 10.9 a few days ago and now my Intuos 2 wacome table is not working.

Anyone has any ideas on why this is or how to fix ?

I have installed the latest drive 6.3.7-3 from the wacome website with no luck.

Cheers for your help,

Called Wacom direct this morning. They said all the new drivers are working fine on Mavericks. But people are not de-installing the old drivers properly and that causes problems and conflicts. I had a similar issue with Cintiq24HD Touch - after installing Mavericks nothing worked. It seems that most people just trash the old driver. Wacom tech said not do dump the old driver the MAC tracsh. They told me that I needed to use the Wacom utility to uninstall the old driver, then reboot your cpu, then install the new driver, then reboot again. That's what they said to do and that's what I did, step by step. Like Magic! It worked super for me this morning. Hope it helps others. It would save a lot of us a lot of down time if they put that little bit of infomation in the install instructions before we install the new drivers. I checked, and couldn't find it anywhere.

Just tried iARAs routine: installing the newest Wacom driver 6.3.7-2 (the newest on the european Wacom site, that is). My preference panel just states 'A supported tablet was not found on the system' - even though my Intous 2's light is on, and my pen can be used as a standard mouse.

Wacom's site is a nightmare and doesn't list any drivers for Intuos 2. Under the list of 'all drivers' - with no information of the supported hardware - I found the 6.3.6-4 version.

So i used the Wacom utility program, - deleting all user preferences and the newest tablet software, - restarted the Mac, and installed the older driver software, - restarted the Mac again, and: 'A supported tablet was not found on the system'

- Even did the routine of deleting and reinstalling an extra time for both versions... - Same result!

Same here.

I hope Wacom will not repeat previous mistakes. I bought the Intuos 2 at the time to replace an older, perfecly good Wacom which wasn't supported anymore. I hate it when I have to ditch perfectly good hardware because the producer refuses to update the driver. The quality of Wacom's products is great. But I'm not sure anymore if that outweighs the pain of Wacom's support.

I have a brand new Macbook Pro with Mavericks and installing either of the drivers (latest on the front page and latest on the Intuos 2 legacy page) didn't work, no matter what order i did it in and how i removed them. I still get the "A supported tablet was not found.." message every time.

I called Wacom this morning and the person I spoke to said they're no longer supporting the Intuos 2 because it's 10 years old. It's so upsetting because nothing is wrong with my tablet, they're just choosing not to continue supporting it. What a waste.

I have a solution that works for me!!!!!!

Plugged it into a USB hub first (a small portable one, nothing fancy, less than $10. just had it lying around) and it totally works again! Perfectly!

Not sure if this would work for everyone since I'm guessing my problem is more hardware related than anything else since I have a brand new MBP. My colleague's Intuos 3 works fine on my computer without the USB hub, but I guess the Intuos 2 is just too old.

Your hint with installing the 6.20 driver just saved my life!!!! I have been trying in vain to get my Intuous 2 running fully since Thursday when I got my new Mac running on Mavericks and was near desperation, having tried out new, older and various drivers, called my Mac store, tried colleagues... nothing worked.

I was just going to unplug my new computer and finish my deadline work on the old one when I happened upon this thread and your tip.

Everything workes as supposed and I can keep my deadline- thanks so much ever!!!!

- So I wrote to Wacom Europe and told them how lousy their attitude towards long-time customers is in my opinion. - Discovered the drop-down menu there, that let me send my complaint to both their support address AND their press dept., - and this is what I got:

-----

"Thank you for your e-mail.

I am terribly sorry for we no longer provide any driver version that would allow you to use your Intuos 2 tablet with the latest Mac system version. The technology gap between these two items is unfortunately too large.

In case you are interested in upgrading your old tablet in order to enjoy a 20% discount on the purchase of some of our newer tablets, you have the possibility to fill in a form allowing you to get a discount voucher.

Here is the direct weblink to reach the page for this "Old for New" offer:

- and then, nine minutes later, I got:

-----

"I passed your feedback onto my manager in the meantime and he has advised you try installing the latest driver for Intuos 2.

Please can you follow the steps below:

First please run a mac disk repair to make sure everything is in order

Follow the steps below to repair disk permissions:

1. Select the Go Menu / Utilities / Disk Utility

2. Select First Aid and the disk you wish to repair then click on Repair Disk Permissions

3. Enter your system password when indicated and the repair will begin. This may take a few minutes depending on the size of the drive.

4. When complete close Disk Utility and restart your system.

Then please run a complete re-install

1. Unplug the tablet from the computer.

2. Uninstall the Wacom driver software with the ´Wacom Tablet Utility´ (´Applications´ folder --> ´Wacom Tablet´)

3. Remove any remaining Wacom entries.

4. Reboot your system

5. Please plug in the tablet and install this driver: http://cdn.wacom.com/U/drivers/mac/pro/WacomTablet_6.2.0w4.dmg

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further queries."

And THIS SOLUTION WORKED FOR ME!

The 'The technology gap' could suddenly be bridged with an old driver and proper instructions! *@!!

Shame on you Wacom!!

I hope the above directions will work for others too.

Same here. Driver version 6.2.0 works fine for me.

Though I had to overrule the default settings of the installer app. It told me it wouldn't install thie driver because it came from an unknown source. I fixed that in the system settings.

I could live with a 'technology gap'. But using that as an excuse for lousy support is infuriating.

I have a new MacBook Pro 15" running Mavericks. I've installed the 6.2.0w4 driver and my Intuos 2 tablet is working fine, but I've had sleep/wake issues and also a problem with my USB ports not working for any device (which was solved with a restart.) I took it to the Apple store where a Genius told me the issues with my computer were most likely due to the Intuos 2 tablet being plugged in. Has anyone else had similar issues, or might it be best to exchange the computer while I still can?

My Wacom Intuos 2 is not working with Mavericks ! anyone experiencing the same problem ?
