Q: My Wacom Intuos 2 is not working with Mavericks ! anyone experiencing the same problem ?

I updated from 10.7 to 10.9 a few days ago and now my Intuos 2 wacome table is not working.

Anyone has any ideas on why this is or how to fix ?

I have installed the latest drive 6.3.7-3 from the wacome website with no luck.

Cheers for your help,

I have a new MacBook Pro 15" running Mavericks. I've installed the 6.2.0w4 driver and my Intuos 2 tablet is working fine, but I've had sleep/wake issues and also a problem with my USB ports not working for any device (which was solved with a restart.) I took it to the Apple store where a Genius told me the issues with my computer were most likely due to the Intuos 2 tablet being plugged in. Has anyone else had similar issues, or might it be best to exchange the computer while I still can?

To all who answered this problem. Your solution worked for me.  uninstalled Wacom utilty that wasn't seeing my intuos2, Repaired disk permissions, reboot and installed 6.20w4. and it worked.  One other thing I did want plug my tablet into usb hub.

    Thanks all.

This thread was helpful.  I went back to the Wacom site and found the "legacy" driver page and downloaded I believe 6.2.1 and seems to work.

This thread helped me fix the same problem with my Intuos2 and Mavericks. Much better than the alternatives of buying a new tablet or uninstalling Mavericks. Thanks for sharing.

I really appreciate the knowledge the community has gathered regarding this issue.  The 9.20w4 driver certainly did the trick of getting my Intuos 2 to work on my late 2013 MacBook Pro.

This fix has greatly enhanced my workflow.

I use my MacBook in 3 different locations, each having a second monitor "piggybacked" on top of the MacBook's screen.  At my home site I use an Intuos 4 large and have been using a plain vanilla mouse at my other locations (because the bulky Xlarge Intuos is too large to move from location to location).

The 9.20w4 drives both tablets flawlessly, independently and with complete functionality.  A real bonus is that the 'application switching' selection for the center wheel on the Intuous 4 (that was removed in the latest Wacom driver) is once again operational!

Thank you! First i tried 6.15-2, doesn't work. After removing the driver with the wacom utility in 'programs' and installing 6.2.0w4 all works fine under 10.9.1.

    The driver was from: ftp://ftp.wacom-europe.com/pub/Mac/pro620-w4_int.dmg

Just chiming in to say that driver ver 6.2 worked for me, too! FYI, I had Cintiq installed on my mac mini but I ended up reconfiguring things and had to use my older wacom tablet, Intuos2 temporarily. But I came across the error msg previously mentioned re: an unsupported tablet. Glad to say that doing a clean uninstall of the old driver(s) and downloading and installing 6.2 did the trick. Thanks for the help!

Both the Intuos and Intuos2 tablets quit working today.

I am furious with Wacom to try to force me to buy new tablets because of a supposed "Technology Gap" when installing the old 6.2.0 driver finally worked just fine. Why those *#@! cannot update the driver or simply tell the truth and quit being so greedy!. I am not made of money and both my tablets (10 years old or not) still work just fine.

Thanks for your help on pointing me to the 6.2.0 driver link.

    My problem:

Healing brush did not work in Photoshop CS6 with Wacom Intuos-2 under OSX 10.8.5 Mountain Lion, MacBook Pro 9.1.

Wacom's suggested procedure reported by sthoy made me aware that I never updated drivers without removing the old stuff first and without using that removal application from Wacom in my program-folder.

So I repaired permissions - restarted - removed the existing driver 6.1.7-5 - restarted - reinstalled driver 6.1.7-5 from the .dmg file.

And now everything incl. the healing brush work fine.

I have also tested newer drivers … they all result in an empty tablet-window when I clicked on the tablet-symbol in system-preferences.

I also looked through the packages of the latest driver 638-2. As far as I could see there were only codes/references to Intuos-2-pens and brushes but when I look for example through the help files they were only covering Intous-5.

So my conclusion: Version 6.1.7-5 is the last Wacom driver working with Intuos-2 provided one follows procedure suggested by Wacom

I incorrectly deleted (dragged to trash, emptied trash) old driver for intuos 2 and now I cannot uninstall it correctly.  What do I do now?  Thanks

You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is marked solved, less people are likely to look at it. You can link to this one.
