Apple usb adapter model A1277 not working on Mavericks

Same here - but mine does work and connect.

But the data rate to the time capsule is down to <100kB/s from 11MB/s before.

Booting back to Mountain Lion using an SD-Card helps... but I do not want to downgrade again.

Same issue. Apple USB Adapter is not working after OSX Mavericks upgrade. Any idea how to fix this ?

While there may be Apple people monitoring, most of us are just users like you.

I'd call Apple technical support. You might also go to the regular suport area for the product and search on "product X and Mavericks"

I have manged to solve the issue with Apple's own USB Ethernet Adapter Model A1277:

Looking in System Information, I found out it has the Product ID 0x1402.

With that I found the source code of a driver mentioning various ASIX models:

It turns out that A1277 corresponds to ASIX_MODEL_AX88772

The drivers for these you will find here:

I downloaded "Apple Mac OS X 10.9 Driver" and it worked.

It boggles the mind that a totally functional Apple product bought in 2010 is unsupported in 2013, while drivers for these still exist and are maintained.

You might be doing it wrong then. It might need a restart after. This did work for me, and I'm using the A1277 successfully in Mavericks now.

I also followed steps I.e uninstall driver , download driver and install driver from asix website but was not able to make it work. I have also started many times. I always see message on usb ethernet that cable is unplugged and I see errors in dmesg or syslog. So for me issue is still not solved.

Working now. Problem was driver. I was not downloading for correct product AX88772.

Download based on os x 10.9

Network speed is back to normal speed using ASIX latest "Apple Mac OS X 10.5 to 10.10 Drivers Installer".

Did you file a bug to Apple? I am not a registered developer so I can't do this.

I could isolate the error to the following elements: Mavericks, USB-Ethernet-Adapter A1277 and Time Machine Backups to Time Capsule over this network connection. What I still don't understand is why everything else worked at full (100 Gbit) speed, even copying a file to Time Capsules disk via file sharing?

Any ideas?

Keri, I have Sorenson relay service to talk 3 way on video TV with interpreter since I am deaf. I had problem using USB Ethernet Adapter that won't work with Sorenson Relay Service if I use this usb adapter alone, to make it work I have to use WIFI and USB together so I call Sorenson Tech and they found this for me to download and install.. after reading your post I m not sure since you were talking about OX Maverick and I have Yosemite 10.10.1. What they said is that I need older driver to make it work so I want to hear from you before I try it. I have Mac Book Pro Late 2013

I know this is a very old topic, but after 3 weeks of mucking about with my A1277 adapter I finally got it working and thought I'd put my solution here for what it's worth. I'm on 10.10 Yosemite.

The problem I had was the same for everyone. The USB Ethernet adapter is detected but it cannot get DHCP or it just gets a self-assigned DHCP. The solution was partly to install the ASIX driver found here. http://www.asix.com.tw/download.php?sub=driverdetail&PItemID=136

But that on its own didn't work. I also had to go to System Preferences --> Network --> select the USB ethernet adapter, then go to Advanced --> Hardware and set from Automatic to "manually". Then select "Full Duplex". The default is "Full-Duplex, flow control". As soon as I changed that I was in business!

Great! I just tried and it works.

When I connect the adapter to the usb port it was even not recognized at all. I create a new "usb ethernet", then followed your steps, wait 10 seconds and now it works.
