Since upgrading to iOS 7, my iPhone's home button is often unresponsive when I want to exist an app. I have reset / re-calibrated the home button numerous times. The improvement is short-lived.
I have an iPhone 4. I suspect the issue is due to the phone's older, less-capable processor. My iPad 3 does not have the issue.
I was wondering if others are experiencing the same.
The button can, and often does start to wear out.
Try reseting all settings, Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings.

just have to wait till the next update in the mean time go to settings>general>accessibility>assisstive touch>enable
you will see a black box click it and click home. that can now be used as a home button
I would suggest that, if all else fails, restore the phone as new. There have been reports of slowness and other issues on the iPhone 4, especially if the phone was updated over the air. A restore as new through iTunes often corrects the issue.
Waiting "until the next update" is just silly as there is no indication that this is a bug in iOS 7 or, even if it is, that it's one that will be fixed in the next update. Take actual troubleshooting steps now.

I have the same issue in my iPhone 4. And surely its related to iOS 7 update. Right now I am using iOS 7.1.
Settings > General > Accessibility > Home-Click Speed - Change from Default to Slow
I have an Iphone 5 - its 4 months old and I'm having the same issue - supremely annoying for me. IOS 7.1
