imovie import

After installing OS X Mavericks and iMovie 10, I've encountered a complication with video importing. During import from my JVC Everio camera, the video segment gets clipped into .9 second segments that cut out in between each one. Anyone else having this issue? After looking at camera compatibility, I don't see my camera on the list since the upgrade to iMovie 10. Is it that simple? Am I screwed?
