Super-Bug: Quicktime export in Keynote 6 is faulty

Unlike the great export to Quicktime feature in Keynote 09 we now have a bunch of bugs in a basket called "Keynote 6".

Movies are not anymore played to their physical (or trimmed) length - the automatic transition time stops the movie playback in the QT-export file after the time given for an automatic progress to the next slide - regardless of how long the placed movie file is. We need this essential feature back, because without this we can't export presentations to QT for standalone use.

The only workaround is to set an Out-animation for the placed movie, but then later in the exported QT file the image is stuck after a few seconds (while sound is running as normal). So this is not working either.

And even worse: alongside the right edge the exported QT movies flicker visibly if there are backgrounds in the presentation other than white.

Please repair!

Good catch! I just ran into this problem. I do presentations that include clips of upcoming PBS shows and sometimes need to pack the whole thing into Quicktime for others to use when I'm not available. I just spent an hour trying to fix this issue and look for workarounds, but ultimately gave up and moved back to Keynote '09. I sure hope Apple fixes this.

Have this one. I was going to use Keynote to build a new company promo video for all our locations. These play on a loop on a large screen TV at all our reception areas.

SO frustrating to sit down and make a pres with no "on-click" transitions or builds, setting timing precisely for each effect, and have all those settings completely ignored when I export to QT. Get this, and the QT Export dialog includes a line of text that specifically says the default timings are used only for click events.

This is a real block to the value of Keynote and creative uses. Going to see if I can use QT player's screen capture feature to get around this. But, really, what a glaring super-bug. Apple, please fix as soon as you can.

It seems Keynote respects the automated build times when you export to Quicktime, but it overrides the automated transition delays. For my video, I've added an off canvas element (I used a circle, but you could really use any element). I set it as the last build of each slide and set the build delay to match my transition delay that was being overridden.

So Keynote will wait until my off-canvas circle appears before it transitions to the next slide. When I export I select Go to next slide after: 0 sec, Go to next build after: 0 sec, and it exported as I wanted it to.

Hope this makes sense. It's a sad hack, but it solved the problem for me.

Alas, the screen recording option doesn't get the audio recorded into Keynote...this is a bit of a disaster for me. I did a couple of short tests with 6.2.2 to make sure qt export worked, and then did a full presentation (30 min). Exporting hung after about 2 minutes. I'm hoping against all odds that the presentation will export properly from Keynote 5.3....this is a mess. Why include a 'feature' if it doesn't work?
