outlook web app will not add attachments

Help! I just upgraded to MacOSX Mavericks on my iMac. I use Safari. I now cannot add an attchment to my Outlook Web App. I know I was able to do this before but for some reason clicking on the paper clip icon does nothing.

I am frustratred since I used this option quite a bit for school.

Thanks

Outlook is a Microsoft product. You will need to contact Microsoft for Mac Support and/or post in their forums.

I had the same problem with adding attachements and found that this solution fixed the issue. apparently, it's an outdated version of microsoft's silverlight plugin.

follow these steps:

1) go to: http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx

2) click on the link to the latest version of microsoft silverlight.

3) install silverlight

4) quit safari

5) re-open safari

everything should work fine again.

good luck!

I was having this problem too, with Apple mail, facebook, anything that required me to attach or upload after upgrading to Mavericks.. I went to my user settings and noticed that my account, which is an admin account, said "admin, managed" and the parental controls were enabled. the only was I was able to change this was to create another admin account, log in to that account and remove the parental controls on MY admin account. log off, go back to original account and delete other admin. it won't show any files if the view is in icon view so switch it to list and it should show everything. I also can't attach anything that is in my downloads folder. not sure if that is a new thing with Mavericks or if it's always been that way. no problems since, knock on wood, but I just figured this out last night. I also repaired permissions before I figured out the admin problem, that allowed me to attach SOME files, but not all. try to admin thing, hopefully it works for you!

Has anyone found out any more information on this issue? I work for an IT company and have a customer that uses Outlook Web and since upgrading to the most recent update, he is unable to attach anything using Safari. He can use Firefox from his Mac wihtout any issues but when he uses Safari it crashes.

We have updated Silverlight to the most recent version and cleared out all of his Safari history and reset it.

Thanks

Well I had the latest version of Silverlight installed already in my new MacBook Pro (running Maverick), but I re-installed it and restarted the browser, and I still have the same problems attaching files to email in Safari. My experience is the same as JEBEGE:

"Clicking the attachment-icon: nothing

Only after clicking twice: pop-up menu appears, in order to add. Than it actually seems to work."

I also checked to see if parental controls were enabled, as another poster suggested. They were not.

Does anyone have any other suggestions I can try?

Thanks,

Susan

We've been expereincing a similar thing:

  • first attempt brings up a standard looking OS X file choosing dialog box which does nothing after you pick a file
  • the 2nd attempt brings up the expected OWA attachment chooser dialog box and we can then attach normally

We've told our users to switch to Firefox/Chrome (or enjoy attaching things twice).

Have you seen any solutions?

Same thing here, exactly as discribed just above this post, the second time you klick it shows the dialogue box but only after you actually made a choiche of any file in the first attempt (so don't just click it away, choose something first and then klick the paperclip for the second time)

It only occured after i installed Mavericks. I'm hoping someone comes up with a fix, preferably Apple itself as i regard this as an Apple issue.

I'm pretty reliant on webmail exchange for work purpose (sadly enough)

I had the same problem with having to attach twice, but now it works.

I didn't follow the instruction by the letter, as I started out downloading the newest version of silverlight, and then I avoided downloading the CTI manager, and ignored all instruction the had to do with it, as I didn't know if I could trust the website.

I am still not sure why we are adviced to download this CTI manager, as it worked just fine without.
