How come photos on my iPhone and iPad are not deleting after I sync?

I have photos on my iphone and ipad that were transferred there by using itunes to move some photos from my laptop to my devices. This worked fine. I now have decided I don't want these photos any longer. I have deleted them from my iphoto library on my Mac but when I sync they keep showing up on both my devices even though they no longer exist in my iphoto library on my Mac.

Have MacBookPro, iPad and iPhone 3G

Hello 4most,

This sort of symptom is typically caused by an issue with the iPod Photo Cache that resides within your iPhoto Library. We've an article that provides further information and steps to locate the cache. This cache can be safely tossed out, as it will be regenerated on your next sync.

If the behavior persists after removing the iPod Photo Cache, you may need to rebuild your iPhoto Library.

Hi,

I wonder how to try your "rebuilding the database", as rebuilding cache and repairing the iphoto library have not helped to clean out permanently 4.5 GB of space on my ipad, which iTunes & iPhoto keep seeing as occupied by (ghost) photos. While I've deleted all of them and tried by syncing several times.

Thanks for any help

Have a look at this solution: There are apparently more users suffering from phantom photos that cannot be deleted: Changing the date makes the photos in "Recently deleted" visible again:

I managed to get rid of the phantom usage. Restoring iPhone and resetting the phone settings/data do not work for me.

I had to move the Date on my phone earlier by 1,2,3 months and found the phantom photos in the Recently Deleted Folder. Next, I deleted the photos manually from the Recently Deleted Folder and the usage got freed up from my iPhone.

Hope this works for you
