Mavericks will not sync Apple Contacts with Google, Linkedin, and Facebook?

I lost the ability to set default account in Mountain Lion, it continues to be missing in Mavericks... Update: it is now available again.

However, I see no settings Under Contacts -> Preferences -> Accounts -> On My Mac (Local). nothing is displayed under account information. Its just a grey box.

I believe this first occurred when I enabled syncing of contacts to iCloud, thought I would give that a go.

So .. what does this mean? .. we cannot keep the OSX contact and Google Contacts in sync.

That would be a negative ..

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

I got the same problem and have send a user feedback as well. I cannot stand to be trapped like that with Apple removing important interoperability functionalities without notice. This is not what you expect from such a manufacturer

I called Apple support and after removing and the adding back my Google account information synching of Contacts between Google and Apple Contacts is working again. Hope this solves the issue for others as well.

I do apologise! Synching the local Google contacts with Google didn't work for me and now does but auromira is right, this is different from the contacts "On My Mac". Sorry for the confusion, I'm new to Macs and just thought I could help. Thanks for picking this up auromira!

Unbelievable. Apple has used Mavericks to make it impossible to sync calendar and contacts with Google, Android and most everything else (except its iPhones.) This is a scandal and blatently anticompetitive behaviour that the AGs should jump on.

I'm just trying to find where it put ALL of my contacts. . . not just google, but apple, on my mac all contacts are hiding or gone??? Who can help me find them? I tried the export file, but that doesn't do anything?

I think the consequence more accurately is that google will not now be allowed to sync with icloud. If we abandon icloud however (disabling the icloud contacts) and then add a google account we can continue to use the contacts app on OSX mavericks with google handling the syncing between, say an android device and your mac. the same is true for calendar. It's a weird move from apple because it drives us into the arms of google.

I found this and it worked! Don't know the technical side of how...and when you look at your GMAIL account it adds contacts to the list...but for some reason - this worked! My contacts that were on GMAIL have been corrected in my Contacts on my mac w/ Mavericks. And I've tested changes on the mac, ios, etc - they all sync! What a novel concept!

I have never set up my gmail account on this computer until today and it works great running mavericks. While Mavericks is no longer using syncservices, (HT5847) google contacts are syncing great with 2 different accounts. Set up by simply adding into system preferences>internet accounts and choosing google.

I also did not expect that with the new mavericks

and I have searched for hours. - But.....

Since last week I use CalDav and CardDav and it works fine for calendar an contacts.

So I now can sync my ipad, my macbook and even an android phone ! ! !

Not sure if anyone has tried it yet, I'm posting on behalf of a friend that has this sync issue, but there's a new update out for Mavericks. It looks as though it may fix the problem?

Can anyone confirm?

I've updated my machine but never had the sync issue as I never used the feature.
