Q: Unable to turn on Wifi on iPhone 4S iOS 7.0.3

Hi ! I am new to the community, I experience the same problem with a 4s, and tried what is recommended by apple (http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559)

I also contacted apple through the live chat. They proposed I should service the device to a third party service (guarantee expired + no authorized apple service in my area).

It is a hardware problem on the motherboard. The cost is about 100 euros (I called 3 different shops).

I think it is too much, because it seems it is not a problem caused by phone bad usage, bad rather it is an apple miscalculation, either in ios 7 or in hardware, I dont know. I assume this because it is a very common problem.

Ok I Tried the freezer trick and it worked. I left it about 15 minutes at -18 (household freezer)

This is to confirm that I had now tried the refrigerator trick twice and both times it worked to turn on wifi.

Tried hte refrigerator trick.  No Luck.  WIFI was working until the 7.0 upgrade.  I did this over the air, which is where the problem occurrs.  Upgraded via iTunes.  Reset to factory and re installed from backup.  Weht great but still no WIFI.  So looks like I am SOL ;-L

I know that WIFI was turned off as a result of the OS upgrade.

I tried the hair dryer and freezer... still on WIFI.

I may try it again... If at first you don't succeed type of thing but...

You don't want to talk to a technician. Tell them you want to be transferred to Customer Service.

Had the same issue on iPhone 4S - wifi greyd out - tried blowing hot air into the top of the phone with the screen down - didn't work for the first time, did it again for the second time a bit longer - the phone was very hot, left it to cool down a bit, turned it on and wifi is back!

Had the same lack of wifi, tried many things, but 15 mins in the freezer worked. Surprised and impressed!

iPhone 4s with  iOS 8.4.1 - WiFi suddenly greyed out.

Tried overheating hack as shown in video's and it works! Had to do it twice though.

Second time I tried, I let it overheat a bit longer and I shutdown iphone before putting it in the freezer to cool down.

A quick overview of what fixed it in my case:

1. Overheat the iPhone whilest using a blowdryer (Yes a blow dryer ...see video's for more details)

This took around 5 minutes, during that time I pressed home button every other minute to see if the overheated message was already there.

when it showed, I let it overheat a minute more.
(First time I overheated the phone, message showed by it self though.)

2. Then I shutdown the phone, be careful not to burn your hands!

3. Then I put the iphone in a plastic bag and let it i the freezer for around 12-14 minutes.

4. After freezer I restarted the iphone and WiFi wasn't enabled, but I could now enable it again (Wifi button wasn't greyed out no more).

5. After enabling WiFi I restarted iphone again by clicking and holding home and on/off button simultaniously for as long a it take to shut down completely.

6. After restart WiFi was enabled and working again.

Not sure if this a permanent fix or just lasting a short while, have to wait and see.

UPDATE: that fix lasted for about one hour, same problem again 

same problem of mine... help??
