leave email on server imap outlook:mac 2011

Hi,

I need to read my e-mails on multiple devices and when I download onto one it is removed from the server. How to I configure outlook:mac 2011 to leave it on the server for a specific number of days?

Thanks

John

That all depends on whether your ISP or mail provider has IMAP or just POP Email. If IMAP it stays on the server for all devices to download. If POP then there is a setting in Outlook to leave Mail on the sever for X amount of days.

Go to the preferences then Accounts and highlight your account on the left. Click the Advanced button and then you'll see the option to "Leave a copy of each message on the server" and the amount of time is in the drop down or just set it to "After Deleting From this Computer".

Please post a screen shot of the Account window. More than likely your mail provider/ISP is using IMAP and Outlook is setup to access it using IMAP. You have to make sure all other devices are also accessing that account using IMAP. If one of them is accessing it by POP then the mail might get deleted from the server when downloaded to that device.

Who is your email provider?

How are you accessing the account, IMAP or POP?

To post a screen shot use the Camera icon at the top of the reply area. Images have to be Jpeg or PNG. To take a screen shot press Shift + Command + 4 keys and draw a box around what you want to make a screen shot of.

Many thanks - I converted to jpeg.

I am using Optus for my mail and yes, another PC is using POP. I don;t know what my iPhone(s) or ipad are using.

I also use Difital88 who host my busines mail and gmail. all come to me via Optus cable or Telstra on mobile devices when I am away from home.

Since one computer is accessing that email account using POP it is downloading the emails and deleting them from the server. If this is on a Gmail account there is a setting in Gmail to leave it on the server even after it is accessed, downloaded, using POP. So check your Gmail settings on the Google Gmail website. As for the other email accounts you have I don't know, I'm not familiar with those.

It is best to have all devices access your email accounts the same way.
