SetUp MIDI Midiman Oxygen8 BASIC Steps...

Greetings, I am trying to get going on a MIDI with Garageband 3.02 --- has anyone written a basic tutorial on how to get started?

What I've done:

1) Installed MIDI 3.2.2 driver (batteries+USB power)

2) Set Audio MIDI Setup (added device> Keystation)

TEST SETUP pings when I press MIDI keyboard keys

SHOW INFO> Device Name: new external device (no manufacturer/model)

If that is correct, then I need to figure HOW to get going in Garageband...

Any tips or links to get me started with a MIDI will be gratefully appreciated (I have zero experience using a keyboard/MIDI and Garageband).

Dual 1GHz MDD (not FW), Mac OS X (10.4.7)

If your keyboard is recognized, then all you have to do is start up GB.

By default a piano track is created and ready to play. Does this not work?

Sounds like like two very different area, really. Playing piano would definitely take more than a "tutorial" (true proficiency, style, and feel is years...)

For mixing, the most important thing is listening to music you like and noticing the parts rather than the whole, followed by using your ear when you['re working on your own composition.

Compare your projects to some of your favorite musicians. Listen to your song, then listen to something "professional". If your horns are too buried in the mix, or way too out-front, keep playing with the mix.

The more music you listen too, the easier it will be to tell when something is just "not quite right" in your own mix.

I don't think there can be a Step-By-Step, as all music and all songs are different, but I hope that points you in the right direction.
