Jun 6, 2014 8:02 AM in response to KumoLumoby fionnfromberlin,I'm experiencing this frequently on my mid-2011 MBP running Mavericks. I'm digging through the report to find a likely cause, but no luck so far.

Jun 8, 2014 8:28 AM in response to manometerby Nik123,What does this do exactly?
I seem to have had some luck after doing a SMC reset and a PRAM reset. Still to early to be sure this has resolved the problem.

Jun 25, 2014 1:01 PM in response to Nik123by TigerFrank, this started happening to me about 10 days ago.
15-inch rMBP late 2013
I wiped the machine completely and rebuilt it from scratch. Was fine for 5 days and then this morning after being in sleep mode all night, I opened the lid to find the machine had crashed and rebooted.
Spoke with Apple and they said to bring it in to the g-bar. No idea what they think they can do.
Anyone have a definitive answer on this or ideas?

Jun 28, 2014 5:25 AM in response to TigerFrankby TigerFrank,I found a "workaround" for this that has nothing to do with USB drives. My issue was never related to USB drives. If you are having this issue, I'd suggest reading the following article.
http://www.macworld.com/article/1053471/sleepmode.html
Setting my sleep mode to 0 fixed it.

Jul 16, 2014 1:41 AM in response to TigerFrankby jaybee2014,I have a macbook pro 13, late 2013. Had problems with sleep wake, every day it would crash. I couldn't wake it in the morning. Needed to plug in the power cable in and press the power button for several seconds causing a reboot. I was then presented with the error log of sleep wake which I sent to Apple.
10.9.3 did reduce the problem, but still crashed once a week. I installed 10.9.4 and now it crashes every day again.
i have no external usb attached. machine will not wake from sleep until i have put the power cable in and then press the power button for several seconds which causes a reboot. I then get the error report saying it failed to wake from sleep. every single day this happens!
I had the same problem with 10.9.2 and apple replaced the machine, but it didn't change anything until 10.9.3. Now with 10.9.4 it is back. I'm currently on chat with Apple to return the machine for good. It is just 2 months old. Forget it. I don't want this machine anymore. I will consider buying again once people stop reporting this problem. it is the most dame annoying problem to have with a brand new machine.
so, back to my trusty macbook air.

Aug 24, 2014 11:58 AM in response to jaybee2014by Arthur_P_Johnson,Holy moly, can't believe I'm finally able to post! Went all the way through another thread that was closed a month ago with no resolution.
So my issue has been identical on my current brand-new MacBook Pro and the Mac Mini that preceded it. Sleeps fine for an hour until it's SUPPOSED to wake to a login screen. When the hour's up, bingo. Usually (but not always) I can't get my video back, and SOMETIMES I can unplug the cable, plug it back in and get back to work. but lately I have to reboot completely.
I do have USB and Thunderbolt equipment attached, and have not yet tried unplugging them to see if anything different occurs. Will tonight.
This does NOT happen on my 2012 15" MacBook Pro with Retina, which has nothing attached usually.
So my question is -- is it unusual for this to happen on a Mac Pro or Mini? has anyone seen this happen on a Mac or or Mini? THANKS!

Aug 28, 2014 10:35 AM in response to KumoLumoby John Kisro,I had the issue with a 13" MB Air and I solved the issue by removing the SSD and cleaning the contacts on the SSD, reinstalled it and ran ASD Sleep/ Wake test a dozen times with no failure.

Sep 2, 2014 4:04 AM in response to KumoLumoby markussmueller,I have the exact same problem as everybody else here with my brand new Retina 15-inch MacBook Pro Mid 2014 that I bought like 2 weeks ago.
It just shuts down completely sometime while it's sleeping. All I can do is press the power button and it starts up again and takes a lot longer than a usual restart does. I tried reinstalling OS X twice and did the usual things they tell you when you call the support. Didn't help. I'm downloading and installing the newest Mavericks 10.9.5 beta (build 13F24) and hopefully theres a fix included already. I'll update this post if it helps.

hibernatefile /var/vm/sleepimage

Still covered by AppleCare - should I just present MBP to Apple.

Nov 8, 2014 8:52 PM in response to KumoLumoby imac5k,This is also happening to iMac 5K -- on Yosemite latest update. Happened on the first day so I did a full wipe (kind of ridiculous considering I had JUST gotten the machine out of the box) and it's still happening. Dropped 4 grand on this unit which happens to be my first mac and not a happy camper by any means.
Will call Apple Care and query.

Dec 1, 2014 1:48 PM in response to KumoLumoby westonadam54,ok i been having the same problem and there is no need to restart or hard boot your MBPR what i do if it happens is that i close my screen to put it to sleep a couple of time until it comes back up to my sleep login password and this does work i have to do it everytime this happens to me.
