Oct 29, 2013 11:43 AM in response to Tobias Eigenby JustSomeGuy,You will need to install drivers for your USB to serial converter to work in the first place. If that has been done, then you'll see it appear in About This Mac->More Info->System Report.
Now, whether or not a serial-connected pointer device will be recognized in OSX - that's another question altogether. A quick googling on my part suggests not. But you first need to know if the system understands your serial adapter at all.

Oct 29, 2013 12:32 PM in response to JustSomeGuyby Tobias Eigen,Hi JustSomeGuy,
Thanks for the tips. The USB serial adapter I am using does show up in my "about this mac" settings, but the trackball does not. I have been reading in other places as well that it won't work but I would sure like to try!
Cheers,
Tobias
