Q: Using Microsoft EasyBall serial trackpad on osx

Hi everyone,

I have a serial trackpad - Microsoft EasyBall - that I would like to get working on my osx macbook pro. I have a USB to Serial Converter but it doesn't seem to be working at all. Any suggestions on how to proceed much appreciated!

You will need to install drivers for your USB to serial converter to work in the first place. If that has been done, then you'll see it appear in About This Mac->More Info->System Report.

Now, whether or not a serial-connected pointer device will be recognized in OSX - that's another question altogether. A quick googling on my part suggests not. But you first need to know if the system understands your serial adapter at all.

Hi JustSomeGuy,

Thanks for the tips. The USB serial adapter I am using does show up in my "about this mac" settings, but the trackball does not. I have been reading in other places as well that it won't work but I would sure like to try!
