Pages issues in new iWork update.

Hey, besides the new iWork being a MAJOR disappointment on so many levels, I'd like to know why I can't use BOLD font any time I get to a new line of text. If I press enter, and create a new line to type on, I CANNOT bold the first word. why..? I'm actually so upset with this update.
