I actually did an online chat with Apple and they did refer me to that link. But you should read the link you are referring to because it does not say to get a new sim card from the carrier first. It actually suggests toggling airplane mode, rebooting, etc before messing with the sim card. in fact it was the last thing that was suggested in the chat.
