I'm not sure that is an option any longer. There is a long thread about this subject right here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5460803?tstart=0
SyncServices has been removed from OS X with Mavericks. You must sync contacts and calendars via a cloud service. Whether you use iCloud, Google, Yahoo, Exchange, some other cloud service, or upgrade to Mavericks Server and set up your own CalDAV and CardDAV server is entirely up to you.
UNACCEPTABLE
Then it looks like you won't be syncing your contacts/calendars locally with your Mac.
I did inform Apple. And, wjosten, you're half right. I won't be syncing it locally AND I won't be doing it with the cloud either. It is unacceptable.
Your choice, you can purchase OS X server, US $20, then you can sync locally.
Taking away previous functionality to sync my iPhone 5 calendar to my OS 10.9 calendar is unacceptable. But I would be interested in hearing more about the OS X server option.
Apple give us the Tools, if you choose not to use them, why blame Apple!
I believe Google or another such companies can offer synced Calenders for Computers & Phones. but once again the use their own version of iCloud..
You're not talking to Apple. Ranting about it here won't do any good. Use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page.
I have figured out a workaround that will permit a manual sync of Calendars and Contacts to an older Apple device that cannot go online and thus cannot use iCloud (even if this were agreeable). Here's how I did it with an iPod classic:
• Connect iPod (or other device) to computer
• iTunes will open
• Select device on top menu to make sure that “enable disk use” is checked.
• Quit iTunes
• Open iPod (or other device) in finder. (You can do this either from the desktop or the sidebar, so long as your settings are chosen to display connected devices.)
• In a folder named “Contacts,” you will find a file named iSync.vcf. This is from the last time you synced your Contacts or Address Book to your device using an earlier operating system. Move this file out of the folder (but I'd recommend saving it somewhere until you get your updated contacts safely in place).
• Open Contacts. Select "All Contacts" in the sidebar. Edit > Select All. File > Export > Export vCard. Give this vCard a name like “AllContacts” and save it to your desktop. It will have the extension .vcf.
• Copy this vCard to the Contacts folder on your iPod (or other device).
• Now when you disconnect your device you should be able to verify that your Contacts have been updated.
You can use the same process with Calendar (iCal). Each individual calendar will be in the folder named "Calendar" with the extension .ics. They need to be exported and copied one at a time.
I hope this is helpful. It relieved our frustration with the change Apple made with the new operating system that discontinued automatic local syncing. Manual local syncing will tide us over until such time as Apple might reconsider.
.
Your post is completely irrelevant. It does not apply to iPhones at all. You can not access the file system on the iPhone.
Sorry about that. I'll re-post it to a different thread that deals with devices whose file system can be accessed. Good luck with the phone.
I agree
