Ultrabeat pattern export problem - Logic pro X

When I try to drag a pattern to the arrange window my changes to the pattern are lost and the original pattern is dragged instead (changes made are ignored).

I am taking a pattern and making changes. No matter what I do, if I try resaving the whole kit with the newly changed pattern or if I change a pattern, copy and paste to a new pattern slot... when I drag the new pattern, still the originaly pattern is copied to the arrange window. Help! (Please)

I am new to Logic Pro X, finally making the switch after a long love affair with FL studio. I am very familiar with DAW's but have to say this one has me stumped.

All help is appreciated.

(I'm on a macbook pro running Lion).
