AirPort Express - 5GHz Password Ok 24GHz Password Bad - Huh?

I have a new AirPort Express

I am seeing some very very strange stuff.

I suspect it will need to go back.

OK Old iMacs oe 2008/2009 iMacs can join 5GHz and 2.4GHz No problem

iPads, iPhones - new and old and 2011 iMac 27" - can join 5GHz network but all fail on invalid passord for 2.4GHz....
