ipod mc086bt wont connect to my own wifi.

Havent used Ipod for a couple of years and just fired it back up. All OK - music etc except cannot "join" my own house wifi after choosing network address as listed on my Ipod . Chose correct network and input correct password but it will not accept. Tapped on "emails" and was able to read emails from 2011/12 so wifi was working back then. Changed my router about 6 months ago but the Ipod recognises new router so cant see wahat problem is. Any ideas ??

You said " choosing network address as listed on my Ipod . "

I do not understand what you are trying to do.

To connect to internet:

iOS: Connecting to the Internet

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?

Does the iOS device see the network?

Any error messages?

Do other devices now connect?

Did the iOS device connect before?

Try the following to rule out a software problem:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Power off and then back on the router

- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections

- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network

- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
