Restore button is inactive in Time Machine
I have an external disk used for making TM backups but when I enter to TM then Restore button is inactive. Why?
MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), 240 GB SSD/1 TB HDD/8 GB RAM

The Restore button only works after highlighting a file in Time Machine to be restored. Then you will be able to press the Restore button. Also, you have to select an old date at the right part of Time Machine.
If you don't know how to use the Time Machine interface, see > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
I am following these directions but the button is still inactive.
I found that Restoring a TM backup is only available if I start the machine in recovery mode, ie. keep the Option key pressed during startup and then I can select the option of restore from a TM backup.
