Q: iOS 7 imap push with mac os x server
i'm going crazy here...
can anyone confirm or refute...?
my setup:
mac mini with os x server (mavericks) with imap mail server running, push notifications setup and certifications in place - works like a charm on all devices and via webmail (roundcube)
iphone/ipad/ipod (iOS 7.0.3): imap mail setup with access to all mails and folders but i cannot select push (only fetch or manual) at "fetch new data" in the settings.
now: i am 100% sure this same setup worked before with os x server (lion AND mountain lion) and iOS 6. i know it for certain because i forgot to renew my certifications last august and of course it stopped working. once i renewed my certs with apple (via os x server) it worked again flawlessly... until either mavericks or iOS 7?!?
has apple dropped the ball here (if so, big shame on you) or what am I doing wrong?
help please!!!!

well, well...
i figured it out: profile manager was only half the truth. the other half were closed ports on the server.
i found this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/message/22452856#22452856
there you can find this:
The solution was to open following ports:
o use Profile Manager, you should ensure that the following ports are open on your network.
| Port | TCP/UDP | Description |
| 2195, 2196 | TCP | Used by Profile Manager to send push notifications |
| 5223 | TCP | Used to maintain a persistent connection to APNs and receive push notifications |
| 80/443 | TCP | Provides access to the web interface for Profile Manager admin |
| 1640 | TCP | Enrollment access to the Certificate Authority |
once i opened 2195, 2196 and 5223 it started to work. you have to re-enter the info of the account but once you do it works like a charm.
finally...
ps: the interesting part is that once you switch on profile manager the ports 80, 443 and 1640 are opened automatically. when you enable push notification nothing happens which is stupid and should be updated in mac os x server maverick in the future - it should be a combination of: if you enable on push notifications, the ports are opened and you are prompted to start profile manager. let's just hope someone at apple reads these discussions...
