Jul 15, 2014 3:37 AM in response to Iokiby Csound1,Did you think of reading this pot that you arrived late at.
XtraFinder has been suggested many many times already.

Aug 13, 2014 10:26 AM in response to stassiby polarbreeze1,Like many others here I find the removal of the "labels" functionality (replacing it with "tags") to be a huge step backwards. It is still bugging me and getting in the way of my work months later. Those tiny little coloured dots hovering way over on the right where you often can't see them are just really dumb user interface design. As someone else suggested, if they could at least place the dots to the left of the filename where they are more readily visible, that would help quite a bit to mitigate the problem. But it's a shame that Apple created the problem in the first place.

Aug 14, 2014 6:40 AM in response to dwbby fiddledeedee,I have the same complaint. I used the colored labels extensively to instantly pick out files without, or barely, needing to read them. Because they covered the entire line, they were instantly identifiable. My column widths are 2 1/2" to accommodate long file names, but some file names are only one word. Since the tiny dots are aligned to the far right, it is now impossible to tell at a glace which dot goes with which file and, so, have become useless.
Personally I have no need for multiple tag colors. Apple should at least offer the option to use either color labels or dots.

Aug 14, 2014 7:25 AM in response to fiddledeedeeby polarbreeze1,Fortunately, there is a perfect solution. It is a free third-party app called XtraFinder, which brings back that same functionality. You'll find it with a search. It also provides many other optional Finder enhancements - some frivolous, some handy. For example, I'm enjoying the feature that places all folders first in the list like Windows does.

Aug 14, 2014 7:25 PM in response to polarbreeze1by fiddledeedee,Thank you, polarbreeze, the XtraFinder plugin did the trick. I also like the auto-resizing-columns feature.
For others, here's the URL:
http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/42067/xtrafinder
Once installed, click on XtraFinder in Applications to open preferences (XtraFinder will also now show in the Finder menu). Under the Appearance tab check the Legacy label box.

Sep 24, 2014 8:43 AM in response to polarbreeze1by oitent,One way to help is adding the "Tags" column in list view and putting it next to the "Name" column… Other than that, i just dont know what else to do… This is a REAL problem for a LOT of users…

Sep 24, 2014 8:48 AM in response to herbert17by oitent,One thing you could do for now is use list view (command + 2) and add the "Tags" column right next to the "Name" column. On a long list, the visual similarity of the text might give you something close to what the labels highlight did before this awful change…
