The Mail program in Mavericks has been given new caching strategies (in comparaison to earlier OS X).
Now the Mail program gives an old version of an image (specified by a link in HTML mail) even though that old image has been replaced by something new.

Go to /Home/Library/Containers/ and delete the folder, com.apple.mail.

Home is your user account in the Finder sidebar. Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.

You can access the HOME directory by holding down Command + Shift and pressing G. This will open the following window:
Replace "HOME" with "~" instead as shown above to access the Home directory.
