Check with manufacturers, if the audio unit is still supported in Mavericks.
Apple has posted a knowledge base article, see:
Unexpected behavior with Audio Unit plug-ins http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5249
EZ Drummer is still alive and well in Mavericks and GarageBand 10.0. Since GB has a completely new UI it's not easy to find things.
After you create a track open smart controls by clicking the button as indicated in the upper left area.
In the smart controls area click on the "i" and then on the audio units instrument space, which should then display all of your AU options.
I wish I have the audio unit box available for the track, unfortunately this box only appears when the "master " is clicked. I don't know how you made the trick. I have also reinstalled ezdrummer but nothing is working so far. I have contacted toontrack and they told me apple is aware of this, when the article says it is responsibility of the plug in vendor to provide an update to make gb and ezdrummer compatible. I think this new gb is a step backwards by making this similar to logic in terms of user interface

This option appear for any track, only you have to enlarge the panöel with the controls, so that there is space for the audio units to show. Grab the dividing line between the control panel in the lower half of the window and the tracks in the upper part of the Garage Window upward, until the Audio units appear.

drag the Smart Controls' dividing bar up
That worked for me...draging the dividing bar up!!!
I could have searched for hours without thinking about that. It's the stupidest thing in the world 🙂
It's like Apple wanted to hide it!

Thank you, the issue is the screen size of my mac, that resized the entire application and gave me a false view.
