part of key board not working

I have a 4s, with 7.0.3 on it, my top row of my keyboard will not allow me to type any of the letter or numbers in that area. I have turned off and turned back on my phone, i cannot restore it- as it needs my password to log in and turn off my find my iphone (and need letters/numbers in that top row), i can use that part of the screen in other areas (games, maps, dialing numbers, ect.) how do i get this corrected?
