Old purchases viewable on ipad but not any other devices

Hi,

I've noticed that on my ipad if I click on the video app I can see ALL of my old movie and tv show purchases dating back to the first time I used Itunes with the link to download from the cloud. However I can't get these to show up at all on my macbook (which was not the one used to download those purchases), my iphone, or my apple tv. The ipad is my newest purchase I don't understand why they are suddenly showing up there after years of trying to retrieve them.

I just assumed they were lost from not backing up on an old computer.

Is there any way to get these to show up on my other devices?

They will show in the Videos app if you have Settings > iTunes & App Store > Videos (in the 'Show All' section) 'on' (and you might also have a similar setting for music and the Music app) - that is a new setting on iOS 7, so if you iPhone isn't on iOS 7 then you won't have that option.

What you can redownload should also show in the Purchased tabs in the iTunes and App Store apps on your devices, and the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes - do the films and TV programmes show there ?

Films should do, though TV programmes won't (I hadn't noticed that you were in Japan). On your computer's iTunes in the Purchased link do you get a Films / Movies heading on that screen ? Films should be one of the content types that can be re-downloaded in Japan, so it should show - if your films don't show under that heading then are they hidden : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919

I think that the Videos app and cloud symbol only allows you to effectively stream content - they might download onto your iPad (so will show in Settings > General > Usage > Videos) but unlike 'proper' downloads I don't think that you will be able to then copy them over to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases (so that might be why you can see TV programmes there).

i was able to download one of the tv shows onto my ipad and watch it just now. But I couldn't with the movies.

Another strange thing: Under manage devices on my macbook itunes it only shows my iphone and macbook but not my ipad. But it is running under the same apple ID and cloud because i've purchased programs on my macbook and downloaded them via cloud onto my ipad quite often. So maybe thats why the old purchases are showing up?
