Mavericks calendar not retrieving invitations from mail

Same problem for me ... what I am really missing: when I finally see the event in calendar (doubleclicking the invitation in mail), I do NOT see any possibility to accept or decline this invitation. Is it GONE now in version 7????

I am having the same problem. Has anyone found a solution? Help!

Same for me...no option to turn on adding invites to ical. Even in the help section in iCal it tells you how to do this, but I do NOT have the option to retreive them...

If your account is hosted on a CalDAV or Exchange server, for example, through your workplace, you receive invitations in Calendar automatically.

Open Calendar

In Calendar you can:

Receive invitations: Choose Calendar > Preferences, click Advanced, then select “Automatically retrieve CalDAV invitations from Mail.”

See invitations: Click the Notifications button in the top-left corner of Calendar.

If you don’t have any invitations, the Notifications button isn’t available.

I don't seem to able to accept og decline invitations either, though most of them seem to be entered automatically.

Pretty frustrating, as many clients and colleagues are now writing emails asking whether I'll be attending or not.

Any update on this? 10.9.2 still has this problem...

I have the same problem using Exchange server 2010 and 10.9.3 Mav. Have any one fund a solution?

This is a HUGE problem that (typically for the post-Steve Apple) appears to be being ignored by Apple.

I have missed two work meetings already due to this issue. The partnership with IBM announced last week is a JOKE in the face of such unaddressed problems with the Mac platform that make it particularly unsuitable for professional business use!

Further to the problem outlined by the OP, if I go to an Outlook email invitation I have not yet replied to, it is blank — there is no information I can see that actually tells me the date or time information of the meeting that is being requested. The ONLY way to see this is to 'accept' the meeting and then manually search for it in Calendar!! Then if I'm unable to make it, I have to re-contact the sender and apologise for my earlier acceptance.

I have exactly the same issue. It happens in all my mail accounts using mac mail. Its very frustrating. I can't even see the time for the meeting so I'm having to send embarrassing emails asking for the time. Apple, please let us know what we can do about this.

I suggest that we all send "feedback" to Apple, using the "Provide Mail Feedback..." item under the Mail menu in Apple Mail. I have submitted this Calendar issue as a bug, as it effectively renders Mail unusable in my organisation where Outlook is the standard. I am reduced to relying on PC-using colleagues letting me know of meetings verbally!

Whether Apple is bothering to fix bugs in Mavericks Mail anyway (considering they are now splitting their time between developing Yosemite and counting their money) is the question. The wall of silence that is Apple gives me little faith that they give one sh*t about real user problems anymore. It's all about their "next big thing". In the word's of Carroll, with Apple these days it's always jam tomorrow and never jam today.

If you go to preferences in mail, the option is there no, under the general tab?

This has been driving me nuts as well, and I think I just fixed it! (kudos to sbenson87 for mentioning Mail's preferences):

- Go to Mail > Preferences and switch "Add Invitiations to Calendar" to Never and close the Preferences window.

- Go again to Mail > Preferences and switch "Add Invitiations to Calendar" to Always and close the Preferences window.

I can now click on invite.ics and they'll appear in Calendar, and just forwarded myself a couple emails with invites attached and they're showing up in the Calendar inbox icon. Hooray!

Well crap, now it's busted again and the above trick is not working. I was so happy, for a few hours. Hoping Yosemite fixes this.

There is problem, that in case, that invitation comes to you directly, than it is added, but it it comes to DL instead of you (thre is no your email in to: filed), event is not added, until you click on it directly and it shows up in calendar.

Teoretically, you could do filter, which resend all email with attachment *.ical, where your email is not in TO: field to you again and then another filter, which will process this autoforwarded messages.

I share the problem described in this post, and believe that it has to do with a particular setup that has not been clearly described by other users. It would be most interesting to find out how many people have a similar setup:

I'm an Apple user connected to a Windows work environment. I try to limit the extent of my integration into the Windows side of things in order to maximize the Apple-OS-based integration of my laptop computer, iPhone, and iMac. For this reason, I use Apple Mail (Yosemite) on my Laptop to connect to my corporate Exchange server. However, that's the only service I connect to. I do not connect to the Exchange Calendar or any other service on Exchange. See my Exchange account setup below:

For the rest of my services, I use Apple's iCloud. This includes the Calendar service:

You might note that I connect to Mail in both accounts. I don't think this is a problem, and I don't really use iCloud mail for anything; I just keep it open in case there is some iCloud-related notice from Apple. For completeness, the account setup in Mail looks like this:

I believe that the problems I am having, similar to the problems described by others on this thread, have to do with the fact that Calendar invitations are coming in by email to my Apple Mail client through the Exchange server, but that I'm asking accepted invitations to hit my Apple-hosted Calendar on iCloud. For some reason, Apple's developers have not contemplated this possibility, and the invitations are not transmitted from my Exchange-serviced email account to my iCloud-serviced Calendar account.

It's only a theory, but I think that it's consistent with some of the facts that have been shared by others here (i.e. other users are referencing the use of "Exchange servers" or "Outlook Mail")

Is there anyone who can test this theory to shed more light on it? And if it turns out to be correct, how can we effectively advance the issue so it gets fixed?

I think we all need to make noise to Apple about this well documented problem. I just wrote this feedback to Apple and iCloud in case it's their problem - by goggling "Apple feedback" a form came up, I filled it out.

The only way we might get traction is for all of us to complain about this unforgivable issue.

Please feel free to take my comments, and paste them into your own feedback form. Fingers crossed we get some momentum. I am very disappointed in this level of service from Apple on this issue, whereas they used to be SO GOOD at customer service issues in so many other ways. We need to demand they fix this!

For some reason, with OS X Mavericks and beyond you have removed iCal's ability to "accept or decline" .ics invites from Outlook.

I think you have done it by accident as it's well documented online and everyone is very annoyed. There is no way you don't know how to do this as I used to have it in Lion.

Can you please provide SOME kind of fix or response as to why this is happening??

It would be a good act of customer loyalty to have Apple respond to this rather than just continue to ignore WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEMS right now.
