Dec 21, 2013 3:41 AM in response to deebrownby hoek_nl,Definitely not a network issue.
At home using ipad2 ios7.0.4 with either apple tv 3 or Airport Express i have dropouts for few days now. But also at friends house (different country, different network setup/hw) on Airport Express (1st gen), exactly same issues.
LatestCrash.plist:
Application Specific Information
### AirPlay report: Network dead for 10+ seconds after 1051 seconds, audio, nm *AirPort Express of ****, tp WiFi, md AirPort4, 107, sv 105.1, rt 129, fu 0, rssi -51

Dec 21, 2013 7:12 AM in response to deebrownby WhatDoIKnow,Same here: no problems with my quite old MACBook running OSX 10.7.5. Neither with iTunes, nor via Airfoil or AirParrot.
Since we have IOS7 on 4 different devices the issue is obvious, but I cannot say we didn't face it before. Just not in that annoying frequency we can see (better NOT hear) it now ;-)
What changed regarding airplay / apple TV (always on the latest IOS-version) ?

Dec 23, 2013 4:59 AM in response to deebrownby loovanloon,SOLVED: I had the same problem myself. Until I came across information about a known issue with certain ATV's: a faulty chip that makes dropping the WIFI connection, eventhough the atv was wired! . See: http://www.mcelhearn.com/new-apple-tv-constantly-dropping-network-connections/
It's only the case with certain serial nummbers, see below or : http://www.iphoneclub.nl/246180/klein-aantal-apple-tvs-last-van-wi-fi-problemen/ ( showing memo)
- Last characters of serialnumber must be: ‘DRHN’.
- And the fourth and fifth characters must be: H9, HC, HD, HF, HG, HH, HJ, HK, HL, HM, HN, HP, HQ, HR, HT, HV, HW, HX, J1, J2, J3, J4, J5, J6, J7, J8, J9
Although my ATV had (and still has) a wired ethernet connection, I had it replaced today in the Apple Store and now Airplay is working just fine.
So it seems strange: a wired atv that had airplay problems caused by a not-even-used-wifi problem, but it solved the airplay problem for me.

Dec 23, 2013 4:20 PM in response to deebrownby Larry Mann,Same problem. Unplugged router and re-set. Then unplugged ATV and re-set. Then re-connected to my Wi-fi in settings. No more dropping of airplay. Good luck.

Dec 29, 2013 3:58 PM in response to deebrownby robbieturner,Solved for me. Had the same problem, Airplay kept dropping from iPad on iOS7. I rebooted my router and AppleTV and haven't had a problem since.

Jan 2, 2014 9:40 PM in response to deebrownby Joseph Corl,Having the same problem. Worked flawlessly using iOS6. With the latest iOS7.0.4 it started dropping on my iPhone 5 and iPad mini.
And, as of today every time the iPhone wakes from sleep the Remote app silences the remote speakers. The screen still shows the remote speakers selected, but they are silent. I have to stop the song, toggle the remote speakers to off, wait several seconds, then toggle them back on, then hit play again. Happens 100% of the time now on both my iPhone 5 and iPad mini.

Jan 2, 2014 10:57 PM in response to hoek_nlby hoek_nl,A reboot of the iPad itsself seems to have solved my problem of dropping airplay connections.
After another app got stuck, needed to reboot, and for the last few days no more dropouts.
Bit silly to not have tried that, rebooted all other hardware quite a few times.

Jan 11, 2014 7:19 PM in response to deebrownby davidjcmorris,This was happening to me as well ... then just now when I went back into the iPhone to reset the Apple TV, I forgot to set mirroring on ... and now it's perfect ... don't know why I had mirroring on for just playing music. I'm a happy camper now. Hope this option helps others.

Jan 13, 2014 8:14 AM in response to deebrownby JBWooster,Same problem with iPad mini. Works fine with B&W speaker but drops connection all the time to ATV2. Usually when I'm using Spotify or mirroring from Youtube. Not as often when playing music from a NAS. Is it a web streaming problem? Could other devices interrupt it, like another laptop waking up?

Jan 14, 2014 10:25 AM in response to deebrownby Vancouver Scott,So I have got it to be very stable, bought the Apple Extreme Router (worth every penny). I find it very stable when I do not use mirroring and extrememly stable when I just play Music from my itunes etc.
Less stable when I try to mirror Slacker Radio or such but better when I do not move around the device that is being mirrored.
The Apple Extreme Router is amazing tech with directional antennas. The device optimizes the signal to the device it is communicating with by analyzing the best path from the four antennas it has. Further it has the new 802.11AC standard which doubles the bandwith of 802.11N as more and more new devices (like next gen Apple products) use it. It is essentially 2 "N" channels. And did I mention it is a cool looking typical Apple design that you would be proud to have in plain sight on your desk? Well it is lol

Jan 14, 2014 11:07 AM in response to Vancouver Scottby JBWooster,Is the extreme substantially better than a relatively new Time Capsule? That's what we have and it works fine for most of the house. Don't know what settings though, I'm not a tech, I'm a consumer. Just turned it on, like the lighting zapped one it replaced. Like I said, no problems streaming from a NAS.

Jan 14, 2014 2:32 PM in response to deebrownby Joseph Corl,Follow up on one solution---
A couple days later I decided to turn on the airport wireless of my iMac 27" where my iTunes lives, that is also hooked in via ethernet to my FIOS router.
Droppage and all the other problems in my post above were instantly solved. While Airplay is supposed to be able to work through the Wi-Fi router it performs very poorly in my case. But switching on the iMac's seems to create a reliable connection.

I had a problem with my Apple TV dropping the connection to my ipad. I posted the issue on here and had many answers but still had the issue.
I discovered the problem and resolved it by accident.
I was using a wireless extender as we live in an old cottage to boost the wifi signal. The Apple TV was tuned into this but what I isn't realise was that after several minutes it would automatically change the network to pick up the signal form the main router!
Please note that it made no difference if I wired the Apple TV to the ext router!
I resolved the issue by relocating both the router and the extender and voila, now it works a treat.
Hope this helps someone

Mar 19, 2014 6:09 PM in response to deebrownby Jarredd,I am having the issue with my iPad 4 when attempting to airplay at my home. My wife has the same model of iPad, both completely updated, and she does not have an issue of the airplay dropping. On the other hand, I can use airplay for hours at a friend's house with little, or rarely a problem. There seems to be no regularity to my issue other than my iPad seems to have the issue at home between 5 and 8 PM while my wife does not have an issue. We have an Apple TV 3, also fully updated. It is not a network problem as everything else works great on my network and my wife's is air playing just fine. Apple TV is hooked up to Internet via wifi, not hard wired. Any other suggestions?
