macbook pro 13 inch retina mousepad and keyboard freeze

I was on facebook home screen I log in start talking to my family then I went downstairs to get a glass of water come back and all of a sudden my mouse and keyboard did not work but I still recieved messages and could see people writing posts? I only got my mac yesterday aha

do apple know about this ? I ended up ringing them but the guy I spoke to didn't seem to know other people are having the same problem

is this common?

do you think there will be a proper fix soon I hope apple know about the problem
