desktop wallpaper resets on reboot

Hi All i have an Intel I7 Mac Mini running the latest version of Mavericks.

The problem is that if i set a desktop wallpaper of my choosing the picture defaults to the Mavericks Wave Image on reboot.

If i just put the mac to sleep then everything is fine when it awakes my chosen wallpaper is still there.

But if i reboot my wallpaper selection is replaced by the Mavericks Wave image.

Any ideas 😐

I tried this method earlier and it didn't work, probably because I am using Mavericks. The file that stores the desktop seems to be in a different place now.

As I said I am not sure the repairing the permissions is part of the fix, it may just work by deleting the "desktoppicture.db" file from the library so that a new file is created on startup which then seems to work properly.

I have re-installed Mavericks because finder became unsusable making my whole computer unusable, very annoying.
But that is fine now. What I did now is (until Apple finds a permanent solution) is choose a folder for desktop pics and then choose "change picture" "every day". Now every time I shut off my screen or reboot I get a new random desktop pics from that folder. I don't mind this. Sometimes I get the Mavericks wave again but after switching screen on and off again it's back to my pics.

Since Mavericks, I also discovered that the new "virtual" screens are doing a little bit what they want.

My boot setup should be 1 space on left screen and 2 on the right.

Sometimes, I restart my computer and I have a third space on my right screen that is a copy of the wallpaper on my left screen.

I think the new spaces system is in cause of all our troubles. And still no sign of Apple to solve this.

Disapointed... The only thing we can customize in MacosX doesn't even work properly XD.

Window users could troll us there...

Hi Hinan83gr. To find the desktopicture.db file, open Finder and whilst pressing the Alt (option) key click on the Go menu and a "hidden" Library file will appear in the list ( the one with no keyboard shortcut) as long as you keep the Alt key pressed. Click on the hidden Library folder, then Applications Support, then Dock and the desktoppicture.db file should show. This works for Mavericks on my late 2012 Mini.
