VPP Service Token?

I am attempting to set up VPP Managed Distribution. It requires a VPP service token, but when I click the link and log in there, I can't find anything about the service token. where do I go from here?

OS X Server

I too am having the same problem.

We updated to Mavericks and updated the Server app and all our devices have detached from the server. Before re-enrolling them we need to be sure we can apps back on the devices. I guess as a backup we could use "Apple Configurator but its a whole new program for us.

Is their a link to where this token can be downloaded?

I had this EXACT issue this week. It's been a nightmare trying to get devices reattached to the MDM. We're using Apple's Profile Manager and we were convinced this update was going to solve a rather large issue we were having. Not to mention making testing easier with the remote 'lock-to-app'; waiting wasn't an option for us either.

You can get the token by logging in to your Facilitator account, going to Account Summary, and midway down the page is "download token."

Took me a while to figure out what to do with it... for profile manager users you have use Server, in the PM tab there's an option to link the MDM to the VPP. It lets you upload the token.

However, it seems to only allow one to use one token. Which is rubbish if I have six facilitator accounts all managed managed through Profile Manager.

I deleted the token once I realized I was limited to 1. I have no idea what happens next.

Hi,

beside the fact that having the possibility to import just one token badly s**** has anyone been successful in pushing VPP apps to devices?

My problem is that apps purchased in the VPP are not showing up in the "Choose apps from your library" of the Profile Manager.

I can import an Enterprise app, but so far there are no signs of the apps I bought from the VPP portal. Looks very weird to me ...

Thank you for any hint!

Just to understand better: are you buying "public apps" in the VPP portal (like for example Dropbox) or B2B apps reserved to the VPP account?

We have the problem just for B2B apps: if I "buy" 10 copies of Dropbox they immediately show up in the Profile Manager.

If I buy 10 copy of a B2B app we (developers) assigned to the VPP for purchase, they appear in the purchase summary of VPP portal as "managed licences" but they never show up in the MDM server.

Well,

if from the VPP portal you would have searched for Dropbox or Skype, then "bought" 10 of them, you would have noticed that those licences would have appeared immediately in the Profile Manager.

I use the past because today nothing seems to work, even the "download token" has disappeared from the VPP web site, so it seems that Apple "rolled back" the whole function, maybe to fix those problems (at least I hope!).

We pinpointed the problem: here's what's happening in the MDM server when a B2B app is purchased from the volume licence portal

1:: [167] [2013/11/21 11:42:10.600] Requesting incremental VPP sync in response to push notification from server

0:: [167] [2013/11/21 11:42:15.027] Unable to retrieve any metadata for product ID 74******

So this seems to be a misalignment between the store and osx server. We asked Apple, will let you know.

Hi everyone,

I am running AirWatch Mobile Device Management for our devices and I just came back from an AirWatch conference. Apple is having VPP issues with MDM companies and even with Apple Configurator. I was told that Apple is working on their API's for the VPP feature and there are ironing out the bugs.

Hopefully we'll hear more soon directly from Apple. I've been getting my updates through AirWatch who is currently working with Apple to resolve their API issues.

The VPP Token is available directly from the VPP Online Store. Click on your username (top right) then select Account Summary.

In the first heading "Managed Distribution" there is a link to the right hand side for download token. Download and then import into your MDM programme. If using profile manager in OS X Server, ensure device management enabled, then check distribute app, click on edit. You can then drag your VPP token from your downloads folder into the pop up box.

In the web portal of profile manager, all your purchased VPP apps should be in the apps tab in the left hand menu.

You then need to create users in the profile manager (Server not web), you should then be able to add apps and push (they will only push to enrolled devices)

Major problems I'm experiencing are that only free apps will push to student apple ids (once enrolled) but paid apps won't push unless the Apple ID of the student has a credit card attached - which is a huge issue when all my students are below the age of having a credit card!
