How do you turn off iMessage emoticons in Mavericks?

Hey,

As the title of the thread says, how do you turn off the iMessage emoticons in Mavericks? Out of preference I don't like using them and I know before it was Right Click>Uncheck Show Emoticons or View>Messages>Uncheck Emoticons. However, I've looked through the entire app and haven't found way to turn them off. It'd be really appreciated for a solution!
