Oct 30, 2013 9:07 AM in response to turpennsby Phil0124,Unfortunately there is no way around it. You will need to contact the student and get his password to unlock it.
This is the new Anti-Theft feature in iOS7. It renders the devices unusable without the original Owner's password.
If there was a way around it it would completely defeat the purpose of the feature.

Oct 30, 2013 11:21 AM in response to Phil0124by turpenns,The student cannot remember the password and no longer has access to this email. Is there anything the Apple store could do to restore if I proved it was a school ipad and was not stolen?

This is the /ONLY/ option; apple cannot do anything to unlock the device. I'd highly recommand ensuring no students return a device with iCloud signed in.
EDIT: Have the student call apple to have her password reset for her, otherwise that iPad will be a lovely brick.

Oct 30, 2013 11:40 AM in response to turpennsby Phil0124,You will need to work with the student to get the Apple Id back to being functional.
Contact Apple Support
https://getsupport.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.action
and see if you can get them to reset the student's account so you can access the device.

Feb 25, 2014 2:06 AM in response to turpennsby Cra5hx,Hi,
If you sign up to cisco meraki (free MDM cloud software) you can add the device to the console and erase it from there.
Just had to do this myself.

Mar 12, 2014 6:48 AM in response to Evans441by Cra5hx,Sign up at meraki.com, install the profile to the device, select erase device. Failing that contact apple support with proof of purchase etc and they'll do it for you

Apr 2, 2014 12:07 PM in response to FCT_officialby savirasarts,Regardless of the profile Cra5hx is telling you about, you cannot get around the Find My iDevice security setting. Installing the profile will let you get around it for wiping the device, however upon setup of the device you will need to enter the Apple ID Password for the last ID that was signed in.
Cra5hx is absolutely right for wiping the device, and it works great, but it is so far impossible on iPad to get around Find My iDevice settings.
