Q: How to transfer files from Windows XP to Mac os x 10.4.11?
I was looking to transfer files from someones old Windows XP Machine to my old iMac G4 and I was wondering how could I do that? I have been buying old computers (preferrably Apple computers), fixing them up, and giving them away for free. I found this iMac, in near mint condition with original keyboard, mouse, and Apple Pro Speakers for the amazing price of $20!
I am not sure if it's possible to use migration assistant to transfer te files. Is there any ay to transfer th files or any 3rd party software that would be recommended? My Mac is an iMac G4 700MHZ model with Airport card, 150GB HDD, and Maxed out RAM. Please let me know your ideas!files

If you're transferring the usual assortment of files (text, photo, audio, video, etc.), just use a USB flash drive. It will be factory-formatted for use with PCs, and the iMac can read/write to FAT-formatted volumes. Otherwise, you could burn the files to a DVD, assuming that the PC has an internal DVD±RW drive or you have an external burner to connect for the purpose. Because you mentioned the Pro speakers, the iMac probably shipped with a DVD-ROM/CD-RW "Combo" Drive. I wouldn't advise using DVD±RW disks or Double-Layer disks, and the choice between a DVD+R or DVD-R disk may affect whether the DVD-ROM drive can read the disk. Obviously, Windows XP programs or program-specific files can't run on a PowerPC processor-based iMac running Tiger.
